Aunty Entity

Aunty Entity, played by Tina Turner, is the deuteragonist of Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome. She rules Bartertown, a post-apocalyptic trading settlement she built with good intentions but became a tyrant. George Miller based her on the idea that today's tyrant is yesterday's hero. She manipulates Max into fighting in Thunderdome to eliminate her rival Master Blaster. After Max refuses to kill Blaster, she has him executed and exiles Max. Later, Max helps children and Master escape, causing Bartertown's methane plant to explode. Aunty spares Max, recognizing their similarities, and vows to rebuild.

Tina Turner was chosen for her positive persona to show Aunty was once a hero. Aunty's steel mail dress weighed over 55 kg. Turner sang two songs for the film: We Don't Need Another Hero and One of the Living.
